A prompt is a detailed instruction for the AI that forms the basis of the entire roleplay. The more detailed and clear your prompt, the more realistic and useful the practice dialogue will be.
Before you start writing a scenario, be clear about the problem you want to solve. For instance, your team might struggle with poor customer service, responding poorly to criticism, or handling conflicts. When the problem is clear, it’s easier to decide what to include in your scenario.
Here are the main components of an effective prompt:
| Scenario Section | Guiding Question |
|---|---|
Context | What is the situation? Where does this interaction take place? |
Trainee | Who is participating in this scenario and why do they need the training? |
AI Avatar | What role does the avatar play? How should they behave? |
Goal | What specific skills or situations should participants practice? |
Context & Trainee:
"Create a roleplay where a manager gives feedback to an employee who has been arriving late several times a week for both internal and client meetings."
Avatar & Their Objections:
"The employee typically arrives 10–15 minutes late, citing traffic or urgent personal matters. During the conversation, they justify their tardiness by stating they never miss anything critical and always complete their work on time. They are, however, open to receiving feedback."
Goal:
"The objective is to help managers practice delivering calm, clear feedback that reinforces discipline and personal accountability."
